About Me

A native of the Springfield District in Northern Virginia, I have spent most of my life living within its boundaries. During my husband's 20 years of service in the Army, we had the opportunity to live in other areas of the country that gave us an essential perspective about the amazing opportunities our community and our schools have to offer. I am a product of Fairfax County Public Schools, and I am so grateful to be able to raise my children here.

Throughout my working life, I have always worked for the success of kids. Starting as an instructor and camp director in the Fairfax County Park Authority, through my time teaching college English to incredible young people throughout our country, and now as a contractor supporting two exceptional Department of Defense youth programs focusing on at-risk youth and STEM education. The success of children and those just starting out in the world is always at the forefront of my mind!

When our family was able to settle into this area again just before my husband's retirement, we made a commitment to spend our time supporting our immediate community. I have been significantly involved with the Parent Teacher Organization at Silverbrook Elementary for the last seven years, the last five as president. I have been honored to serve the Silverbrook community, and I am eager for the chance to continue to serve all of the Springfield District in this new role.

I'm excited to run for the Fairfax County School Board. My experience as an FCPS student, FCPS mom, PTO leader, military spouse, and higher-ed educator make me uniquely qualified to represent and serve the families of the Springfield District. My experience lends itself to this work. This is my hometown, and I am ready to serve.
